. . . from Pastor Linda
Dear Friends in Christ,
Being at St. John’s just a few short months, I’ve now experienced my first Peach Festival, a tradition St. John’s has been carrying out for
over 30 years!
What a wonderful community effort! There were jobs for everyone of all ages… from the set up, to the crafts and games for the kids,
the peach peeling party, to cooking hamburgers, to the clean up. It was a memorable evening with the ‘Renaissance Gospel Group’ entertaining
those who came to enjoy the festivities. Thanks to each and every one who participated in such a great community event! This is an event that
has many workers, both seen and unseen! The weather held out, as it did not rain for the much anticipated event, and the double rainbow reminded
us of God’s presence in our midst. Everyone worked hard for this fun evening to raise funds to support the work God has called us to do!
As the fall brings cooler weather and a new school year, we’re back to different routines in the church as well. Sunday school and
fall programming will be in full gear in just a few short weeks. Since this is a time of new starts, this is a time to remember there are many
people in our midst who do not currently have a church home and are looking to make God a higher priority in their lives. Take some time over
these next weeks to prayerfully consider who God is challenging YOU to invite to join us for worship and fellowship at St. John’s. With the
church picnic coming up, why not take a RISK and invite someone to come along, perhaps you can even offer a ride. A life might be forever
enriched because you invited them to St. John’s U.C.C.
The first Sunday in October brings us together to celebrate Worldwide Communion, a day in which many Christians around the world are
symbolically gathered around the communion table to celebrate the sacrament of God’s grace. As we celebrate Holy Communion together, you will
notice the communion elements will be served from a communion table in the front of the sanctuary. This gives an opportunity for the gifts of
God, bread and wine, to be seen as the community of faith is gathered to celebrate God’s covenant with us. Join us as we gather around the
table for a meal of thanksgiving and remembrance of God’s grace and sustaining presence.
Blessings,
Pastor Linda

On behalf of the entire church community, we warmly welcome you to St. John's United Church of Christ. We worship each Sunday morning at 9:30 am (summer Service) and sincerely hope you will come join us!
St. John's church is affiliated with the United Church of Christ (UCC), an inclusive and ecumenical denomination where persons of all backgrounds are warmly received. At St. John's, you will find an inter-generational community, with programs and activities for all ages. The hospitality is warm and the people are friendly. We believe that building community is far more important than religiosity.
So, come and be challenged and refreshed, and find a place where you can make a difference. You'll be glad that you did!
